The Community Nutrition Officer (CNO) is responsible for planning, and monitoring community nutrition activities, with a particular focus on capacity building of SRCS Volunteers and CHWs to lead on the daily implementation of awareness sessions mainly on breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and prevention of malnutrition, together with group sessions for caregivers of children under 2 years while ensuring proper coordination and collaboration with local authorities, other key partners, beneficiaries to ensure the smooth implementation of the program activities of the SRCS projects. The CNO will also be the focal point for running nutrition-sensitive and wash activities at the field level.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· The Community Nutrition Officer (CNO) will be responsible of assessing regularly IYCF, nutrition and care practices amongst the targeted communities in the areas of interventions.
· Provide technical support and guidance to IYCF Nurses, SRCS volunteers, and CHWs on nutrition education, IYCF, and wash activities.
· Collaborated closely with the Nutrition manager to provide updates on the program, discuss emerging challenges, and collaborate on the design of new programs or changes to existing programs.
· Conduct and engage in nutrition and health education to ensure the promotion of positive health-seeking behavior, including maternal and child health
Education
· Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, and Nutrition
Experience:
· Minimum 3 years relevant experience in community nutrition with significant experience in nutrition sensitive & IYCF programs
· Technical Skills:
· Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, protocols, and guidelines, as well as experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Interpersonal Skills:
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills to effectively work with diverse groups of people.
· Language:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda, with the ability to engage effectively with community members, partners, and local authorities
