“Empowering Somali Youth and Elevating Agricultural Sustainability”

Overview:

As a vital step towards fostering economic growth and improving the livelihoods of urban and rural households in Somalia, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MoAI) is inviting qualified bidders to tender for the procurement and installation of eight greenhouses under the "Youth Employment and Income Generation through Greenhouse Project."  

The MoAI is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Somali citizens through sustainable agricultural practices and irrigation development. By establishing a robust framework for local and international investors, MoAI is striving to elevate the NTP for agricultural sector, Private engagement, GDP growth and Job creation that will lead feeding the nation and preserving the environment for future generations.

Project Highlights:

Objective: The project is driven by the goal of addressing the high unemployment rates among the youth by promoting greenhouse vegetable production as a viable economic opportunity.  

Funding: This project is funded by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD).  

Impact: By integrating modern agricultural technologies, we aim to empower Somali youth to become entrepreneurs, creating jobs while ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality and affordable food.  

Scope of Work:

• Procurement:Supply of materials and equipment for the greenhouses.
• Installation:Construction of eight greenhouses (24m x 8m each).
• Training and Support:Provide training for operations and maintenance and offer support for six months’ post-installation.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Proven experience in greenhouse construction and installation.
2. Relevant certifications and licenses.
3. Demonstrated capacity to deliver within the specified timeline.
4. Ability to provide training and support as outlined.

• Proof of financial capability.
• Valid registration documents and certifications.
