suffering the consequences of war and/or natural disasters. We possess long-standing expertise in Water, Sanitation,
and Hygiene (WASH), but we also implement projects in Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), as well as Nutrition and

PAH Mission in Somalia:
PAH is an international humanitarian organization with it is headquarters in Warsaw Poland. Present in Somalia since
2011, PAH has specialized in integrated programs including WASH, Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods, and
community-based Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). PAH has operations in Banadir, Lower Shebelle, Middle Shebelle, and
Galmudug regions of Somalia and Hiraan and Bay region through our cooperating partners. Our current donors are
ECHO, GFFO, SHF, WFP, Private donors, and UNICEF
Purpose of the position.
The WASH Engineer will ensure the effective implementation of all WASH-related activities in alignment with donor
requirements and organizational goals. The WASH Engineer will report directly to the Head of Programs and work
closely with Project Managers and the field team, including project officers and assistants.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, implementation, and monitoring of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)
infrastructure projects.
Oversee the construction and rehabilitation of WASH facilities, ensuring technical standards are met and
supporting overall WASH program objectives.
Lead the technical design and implementation of WASH infrastructure projects, including water supply
systems, and sanitation facilities
Prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, and bills of quantities (BoQs) for WASH infrastructures
Ensure compliance with technical specifications, standards, and safety regulations during all construction
and rehabilitation activities.
Supervise the construction and rehabilitation of WASH facilities (e.g., boreholes, shallow wells latrines, water
tanks, etc.), ensuring timely and quality delivery.
Monitor the performance of contractors ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
Ensure that environmental and social safeguards are implemented during construction activities.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor the progress and quality of WASH infrastructure works, addressing
technical challenges and issues.
Provide technical guidance and training to field staff, on WASH engineering practices, construction
techniques, and maintenance of WASH infrastructure.
Support local capacity building to ensure the sustainability of WASH facilities and systems.
Collaborate with project teams, local authorities, and community leaders to ensure WASH interventions are
appropriate, effective, and culturally sensitive.
Prepare and submit technical reports, including progress reports, site assessments, and completion reports,
ensuring timely submission to the supervisor
Contribute to donor proposals, providing technical input for WASH-related activities and budget preparation.
Ensure that all WASH-related activities are implemented with attention to health, safety, and environmental
protection standards.
University degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in WASH infrastructure development and emergency response.
Proven experience in designing and implementing WASH projects in humanitarian contexts.
Strong technical knowledge of WASH programming, including water supply systems, sanitation facilities, and
hygiene promotion.
Proven experience in managing WASH infrastructure projects, including design, implementation, and
monitoring, with a focus on quality and sustainability.
Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools.
Fluency in both Somali and English, with excellent communication skills (speaking, writing, and reporting) in
both languages.
Field experience in Somalia, with a strong understanding of the local culture, customs, and logistical challenges
associated with WASH program implementation
