Org. Setting and Reporting
These positions are located in the Transport Section within the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) and are based in Mogadishu. The incumbents will report to the Unit Chief within the Transport Section.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision and general guidance of the Unit Chief Transport Section, the incumbents with perform the following functions: • Monitor the UN-owned vehicle fleet and associated assets via a combination of electronic inventory management and periodic condition assessment. • Provide driving assessment/ briefing on the mission transport rules to personnel, and agencies F&P including ATMIS troops. • Coordinate training and conduct tests for the candidates. Issuing driving UN driver permits to authorized personnel/military and other agencies & programs. • Receives and distributes vehicles and equipment to the various mission offices, in accordance with the relevant mission procedures, and conjunction with a team of Sector Motor Transport Officers. • Conduct physical inspections and spot checks ensuring the accuracy of inventory records and detecting damage and losses. • Compiles periodic reports and documentation regarding fleet status and deployment. • Assists with vehicle reception, inspection, allocation, inventory checks, reconciliation of PSIU discrepancies, and preparation of monthly and yearly inventory reports. • Supports the Road Safety Committee in line with Road Safety Regulations, maintaining e-records and statistics and driver permit files these include client records and any other connected permit information. • Assist write-off process and verify the accuracy of the information in databases. • Ensure that each vehicle has installed a CARLOG system. • Perform Umoja transactions, issuance, receipt, handover transfer posting, update status, and populate section vehicles in Umoja. • Performs a variety of additional, ad-hoc tasks as and when required by the supervisor.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job - Specific Qualification
Valid driving license is desirable. A driving test Certificate Officer or another equivalent is desirable.
Work Experience
At least seven (07) years of progressively responsible experience in transport operations management is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience with the United Nations or any International organizations is desirable. Experience in Inventory Control and Fuel management is desirable. Experience in the use of Power Business Intelligence (BI) or similar data analysis and visualization tool is desirable. Experience in Transport Dispatch operations is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required (both oral and written). Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
