About the Project:
Muslim Hands is implementing an integrated Masjid and Solar-Powered Borehole Project in Abdaal Town, Somalia, to improve access to safe water and strengthen essential community infrastructure. The project responds to the town's increasing demand for reliable water services and adequate religious facilities.
The project will construct a 250-capacity masjid with a dedicated women's prayer section, ablution (wudu) facilities, toilets, and other essential amenities to provide a safe and dignified place for worship, Islamic education, and community gatherings.
To address the community's water needs, the project will drill and equip a solar-powered borehole with an elevated storage tank and water distribution network. The system will supply water to the masjid and feed community water kiosks strategically located across the town, providing reliable access to safe drinking water for households and helping strengthen resilience to recurrent drought.
The integrated project will improve public health, hygiene, and access to clean water while promoting social cohesion and ensuring long-term sustainability through community participation and local management of the water infrastructure.
