1. Organization Background
Taakulo Somaliland Community Commonly known by the acronym “TAAKULO”. Taakulo is a multifaceted non-governmental, non-profit making, non-political and non-partisan development and humanitarian aid organization established in 2007 and headquartered in Hargeisa, Somaliland. Taakulo is a Somali word meaning “helping/aiding”. Working in partnership with UN, international, and National organizations, Taakulo is dedicated to helping the disadvantaged people and communities throughout Somaliland by engaging in development and related activities and providing relief support and assistance, facilitating, and promoting participatory local community activities and programs that emphasize human dignity and self-reliance.
Taakulo Organization was established to assist the Somali community, to whom time has tested their resilience to the tipping point, drought and famine scavenging their livelihood, war and conflict avenging their economy on the other hand. The projects are basically based on the needs of the communities in which they are implemented where the beneficiaries always take part in the planning process. Taakulo engages on a long-term commitment, partnership approach with the beneficiaries in implementing the Projects. The objective is to set up a regional program concentrating on a particular sector, such as Health, education, water and sanitation, Income Generation, Orphan sponsorship program, disability and people with special needs, emergency respond or improving food security in the country among others.
2. Project Background
TAAKULO SOMALI COMMUNITY and PLAN INTERNATIONAL will scale up the ongoing lifesaving humanitarian assistance and build resilience to vulnerable shock-affected populations in Togdheer and Bay regions through multipurpose cash assistance, construction and rehabilitation WASH infrastructure and coupled with community capacity building activities.
The project will prioritize households experiencing lack of critical sanitation facilities and at risk of waterborne diseases outbreak as they rely on surface water with limited access to water treatment services. The project will rehabilitate 2 gender sensitive school latrines in Ina Cadami village and construct 12 household ventilated improved pits (VIP)latrines with safety and inclusive facilities in Bali Haji Diriye village in line with the Somalia WASH Cluster technical guidelines for latrine constructions (wash updates\Latrine_Design_and_Construction_Part_1.pdf) to enhance protection and dignity. These household VIP latrines with the dimensions (1.5 meters wide, 2 meters long, and 2 meters high) are also suitable for post emergency situations have an offset pit-hole up to 3-4 meters deep and 1-meter square wide, a superstructure with brick walls, a cover slab, a PVC vent pipe with a fly trap screen, a CGI sheet roof, a steel door with a ventilation window. To ensure accessibility for all, disability-friendly accessories (handrails and stand WC), and a handwashing facility will be considered.

Taakulo Somali Community is inviting to a bid for Construction / Rehabilitation of latrines at Odwayne district, Togdheer region of Somaliland as per the Designs and Billing Quantity. All interested and eligible suppliers/contractors with sound capacity and relevant experience in similar work are here by invited to fill bid document and BOQ, and bring to Taakulo Office during working hours from 8:00Am to 4:00pm, from Sunday to Thursday.
The deadline for submitting bid is Monday, 28th Nov 2024 (4:00PM), and any bid document received later than submission deadline will not be accepted. The sealed envelope should be dropped in the tender box in Taakulo main office, Buurta Kalajeexan area, behind Ilyes Secondary School, Hargeisa Somaliland. Bid documents should be sealed, and hereinafter submitted as hardcopy and marked with reference No of (Ref/Cons/SF/10-2024– Construction of 12 household VIP latrines. And Ref/Cons/SF/10-2024- Rehabilitation of 2 school latrines).

5. BID minimum requirements.
I. Quoted BoQ, which is stamped and signed.
II. Detailed Company profile.
III. Bank statement; of the last 6 months (Original bank statement will be accepted).
IV. Prove of track-record and references from previous clients (At least three references with contacts and phone number)
V. A valid company license (Outdated license will not be accepted).
VI. Updated tax clearance certificate.
VII. Relevant experience. (Similar experience with proof of singed contracts)
VIII. Work-plan of weekly based.
IX. Resume of key company staff including Engineers.
