Background:

WARDI Relief & Development Initiatives (WARDI) is a national non-profit making and non-governmental organization founded in 20 June 1993 and subsequently registered under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the transitional federal government of Somalia through under Article 22, Para 1, 2, 3; Article 26 and Article 67 Para3 of the transitional federal charter of Somalia in 2004, as well as the Article 7, Article 26 and Article 32 of the first constitution of Somalia in 1960.WARDI is also registered in Kenya with the NGO Coordination Board of Kenya though the NGO Coordination Act of 1992.The organization targets the most vulnerable members of the society mainly women and children.

Through Action Medeor the Transitional Development Assistance (TDA is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).  The Transitional Development Assistance (TDA), is planning to initiate the “PoWEr - Promoting Women Empowerment through an Integrated Approach” project in central Somalia. This initiative, delivered in a consortium, aims to enhance the economic and social empowerment of women, girls, and other vulnerable groups while promoting gender equality and resilience against climate change, disasters, and conflicts. The project’s core approach integrates gender-transformative strategies and aims on building resilience through three key measures: fostering women’s participation in decision-making and economic activities, improving access to essential services, and supporting climate-smart agricultural practices for food security and financial independence.

Main responsibilities towards this project includes but not limited to:

  • Take leadership of the project in terms of high quality, timely deliveries, narrative reporting, close cooperation with the project coordinator.
  • Oversee all the project activities in the project location, Plan and implement all the project activities in the field, assisting the staff in the field.
  • Carry out networking of the project with local administration, other stakeholders in the project area, maintaining links with community committees and elders, engaging consistently with beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the proper beneficiary selection and verification procedure and criteria are followed.
  • Prepare detailed activity implementation plans for the activities (distribution of inputs and beneficiaries’)
  • Provide regular report and feedback on the status and effectiveness of the activities to the project coordinator
  • Closely liaise with partners in Jowhar – implementing FSL, H&N, WASH and protections to seek synergies and ensure holistic program implementation.
  • Identify and sensitize community people and other stakeholders about project goal, objectives, beneficiary targeting criteria, duration of project etc.
  • Carry out community mobilization and sensitizations on agriculture input and any other livelihood distributions
  • Ensure establishment of project management committees in all target villages, to ensure that accountability, transparence and inclusivity in place, during the implementation of project activities.
  • Lead and coordinate selection of beneficiaries through targeting, registration and verifications. Verify and review targeted beneficiaries eligible for the provision of response
  • Support reporting and monitoring and evaluation, assuring that quality reports are submitted using standard project formats and in a timely manner.
  • she will be responsible for ensuring of gender mainstreaming in the activities and motivate the women groups to participate in project implementation process
  • Conduct training on good agricultural practice for beneficiary community to ensure agriculture management capacity improvement for the communities
  • Effectively communicate project progress in a clear and timely manner and provide project updates in the monthly meetings.
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports to the project coordinator & program director.
  • Perform other project duties as assigned.

Experiences and Qualifications

Education and experience

Ø  Bachelor’s degree in community development, Agriculture, food security, project management or other relevant areas

Ø   Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in the humanitarian and development programme and working with NGOs & INGO.

 Essential knowledge and skills

      Familiarity with Somalia humanitarian/development context, especially Food security and Livelihoods.

       Experience in working on complex projects with multiple components in fragile environment

      Experience in understanding local contexts

      Ability to establish and maintain relationships with state government officials and local community structures.

      Ability to manage and work with a team.

      Knowledge of MS Office suites.

      Proficiency in English and Somali
