Position: Project Manager (Team Leader)

Location:  Mogadishu, with travel to Middle Shabeele

Duration: 12 months, fixed term, renewable based on performance, funds, and need for the position

Role Overview: 

The Project Manager (Team Leader) will oversee the Damal Caafimad Project's health activities in Somalia. This role involves leadership, management, and technical guidance to the health team, ensuring the development and execution of top-quality services. Responsibilities include program oversight, program reporting, internal and external coordination, public relations, and program monitoring. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Technical Guidance and Leadership. 
  • Lead and direct all project activities. 
  • Manage project staff. 
  • Act as a liaison with MoHD and other health partners and work with the government and partners to troubleshoot and proactively address challenges. 
  • Ensure that environmental and social safeguards requirements as outlined in the ESMF are implemented and reported on. 
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor essential package of health service (EPHS) activities. 
  • Ensure high-quality health service delivery. 

 

Program Design, Development, and Implementation: 

 

  • Plan and implement health and nutrition activities. 
  • Monitor program progress and budget. 
  • Train staff in various aspects of program management. 
  • Collaborate with other sectors for comprehensive care. 
  • Implement and report on environmental and social safeguards. 

 

Representation and Coordination: 

 

  • Establish relationships with health sector actors in Somalia. 
  • Represent ALIGHT in various forums. 
  • Ensure transparency and effective coordination of activities. 

Experiences and Qualifications

Qualifications: 

·       An advanced degree (MPH, MBA, MPA) is required. 

·       Minimum of ten years of experience in health service delivery management. 

·       Experience managing essential health service delivery in Somalia is strongly preferred. 

·       Proven leadership and project management skills. 

·       Strong analytical, diplomatic, and communication skills.  

·       Willingness to travel, including to remote areas. 

·       At least three years of experience working with governments and partners in fragile contexts.   

·       Excellent communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information in both written and oral form for use across different audiences.
