Background:
WARDI Relief & Development Initiatives (WARDI) is a national non-profit making and non-governmental organization founded in 20 June 1993 and subsequently registered under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the transitional federal government of Somalia through under Article 22, Para 1, 2, 3; Article 26 and Article 67 Para3 of the transitional federal charter of Somalia in 2004, as well as the Article 7, Article 26 and Article 32 of the first constitution of Somalia in 1960.WARDI is also registered in Kenya with the NGO Coordination Board of Kenya though the NGO Coordination Act of 1992.The organization targets the most vulnerable members of the society mainly women and children.
This project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Action Medeor e.V. the Transitional Development Assistance (TDA), is planning to initiate the “PoWEr - Promoting Women Empowerment through an Integrated Approach” project in central Somalia. This initiative, delivered in a consortium, aims to enhance the economic and social empowerment of women, girls, and other vulnerable groups while promoting gender equality and resilience against climate change, disasters, and conflicts. The project’s core approach integrates gender-transformative strategies and aims on building resilience through three key measures: fostering women’s participation in decision-making and economic activities, improving access to essential services, and supporting climate-smart agricultural practices for food security and financial independence. The aim is to Strengthening gender equality and resilience at individual, household, and community levels in two districts (Jowhar and Aden Yabaal ) Middle shabelle region of South Central Somalia.
1. OBJECTIVES:
WARDI need to recruit a project coordinator working full –time to coordinate and oversee the quality and the implementation of the Transitional development assistance (TDA) project.
3. RESULTS/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Under the overall supervision of the Program Director, the Project Coordinator will work on the following tasks to coordinate the implementation of the TDA project.
• Developing detailed annual work and budget plans based on approved overall work plan. Support development and timely submission of work plans and budgets from implementing partners.
• Making schedules for project activities listed in the annual work plans to ensure all activities completed on time; ensure timely and duly management of the project and implementation of all activities in accordance with signed agreement with the donor.
• -Too ensure smooth implementation of the project, the project coordinator should Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual activity progress and financial reports (in English) and ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of these reports to the donor and supervisor.
• Working with the project accountant to monitor project funds, ensuring the funds are used for the proper purposes, proper activities and with the efficiency and transparency.
• - Organizing monthly team meetings to review and plan project activities - Coordination with the donor, other TDA consortium partners and other stakeholders, organizing regular or extraordinary team meetings in project management unit and meetings and reviews with donor, partners or other stakeholders during the project period to monitor and manage the progress of project implementation - Compiling and maintaining project reports and minutes of meetings
• Participating in field visits to monitor and evaluate the progress of project activities. - Any other tasks assigned by the project director to achieve the project objectives
4. SCOPE
the project coordinator will manage/overseeing all activities/works of the project.
5. METHODOLOGY
The Project Coordinator will be supervised by the Project Director to coordinate the implementation of the project. The Project Coordinator will work on a full-time basis and be located in office of the Mogadishu. She is expected to travel to the field and related places of the project.
6. IMPLEMETATION PLAN
The project coordinator will work initially in one year, starting from November 2024 and have an opportunity of 3-year extension based on work quality.
• Proven ability to coordinate and manage complex project work with focus on population, empowerment of women, gender programming
• Experience in implementing and managing Transitional development Assistance(TDAs) projects
• Experience in programmer planning, design, follow-up, report writing, monitoring and evaluation of the projects
• Experience in working with various partners, in consortium, working with international and national experts to implement project activities
• Experience in conduct project reports in English
Able to work independently or in a team - Education on a bachelor or master level in the area of development studies, public health, social science or other relevant areas
• Strong communication skills
• Good ability to communicate in English
Essential knowledge and skills
• Familiarity with Somalia humanitarian/development context, especially Food security and Livelihoods.
• Experience in working on complex projects with multiple components in fragile environment
• Experience in understanding local contexts
