Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Media Communications Officer, the successful candidate will focus on supporting the timely and professional presentation of audio-visual communications outputs to the media, general public and internally within IOM. These materials include press releases and briefing notes, photographs from the field, infographics, flyers, presentations, and video.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1.Produce, edit, and publish cutting-edge audio-visual content across a variety of platforms, including emerging social media, to support IOM’s communication and visibility strategies.
2.Create engaging storyboards, scripts, and multimedia products, including social media clips, b-roll footage, and explainer videos, tailored to target audiences.
3.Independently produce and encourage the exploration of innovative content formats, such as virtual and augmented reality, to provide immersive experiences that deepen understanding of issues concerning people on the move.
4.Edit and publish audio-visual content to complement IOM's press releases, human interest stories, reports, newsletters, factsheets, and other communication materials on both IOM and external platforms. Ensuring content is crafted with clear, targeted messaging for designated audiences.

6.Support the media and communications team by editing photo and video materials promptly to enhance the quality of media products.
7.Support IOM’s media engagement strategies by producing content for use across various media outlets, including digital, television, and social media platforms.
8.Forge and maintain strategic partnerships with technology companies, creative agencies, and academic institutions to enhance content quality and distribution. Engage with key UN
communication staff, IOM partners, and influencers at all levels to support IOM’s
objectives.
9.Support SMT and programme teams in producing internal and external communications, including pre-recorded video messages, concise explainer videos, and other audio-visual communications.
10.Implement and utilize digital analytics tools to track the performance of multimedia content. Integrate audience feedback to refine and target content strategies, ensuring alignment with audience preferences and organizational goals.
11.Ensure multimedia content reflects a broad spectrum of voices and experiences, emphasizing gender, ethnic, and cultural diversity. Promote stories that raise awareness on gender and migration-related issues, incorporating a gender perspective across all content.
12.Prepare thematic campaigns to commemorate international days and global events relevant to the organization’s priorities, programmes, and ongoing activities to support IOM’s brand recognition.
13.Manage the digital archiving of IOM's photo and video assets, ensuring efficient tagging and captioning for easy retrieval.
14.Conduct multimedia training for field staff to enhance their photography and video production skills.
15.Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

For all applicants, fluency in English and Somali is required (oral and written).
Working knowledge of French or any other UN Official language is advantageous.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa, and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable.
Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighboring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered.
In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighboring country located within commuting distance, and a work permit, as applicable.
