  MSF is an independent humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populations in need. MSF Somalia mission is seeking a qualified person for the position below:

Job Title                            : MENTAL HEALTH SUPERVISOR

Work Location                  BAIDOA_SOMALIA 

Start date                            : AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Length of contract           :  Fixed term (1year) 100% with 3 to 6 months’ probation period.

Main Purpose

 

Participate in the planning, supervision and coordination of mental health / pycho-social related services in the programme in accordance with MSF standards in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients.

Accountabilities

 

 

 

•       Participate in the planning, organization and coordination of Mental Health activities, in close collaboration with the Mental Health activity manager and other medical team members, in order to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of the resources needed while maintaining high levels of quality in Mental Health MSF programs and activities.

•       Coordinates activities of counseling services with other relevant actors and liaises with the local counterparts (like MoH, WHO, ICRC and NGO) on mental health matters, including referral services.

•       Supervise the daily mental health activities and patient support according to MSF protocols and standards in order to provide the most appropriate support for clients with psycho social needs

•       Liaise with the other MSF team members of the project.

•       Supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required

•       Oversee the administrative processes associated with psychosocial functioning.

•       When needed, give psychological support to patients according to MSF protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.

 

•       Compile the data and statistic linked with MH activities and report to the MH activity manager

 

•       Offer clinical counselling supervision to mental health counsellors in collaboration with the Mental Health Activity Manager.

 

•       Ensure the patient related information is kept confidential

 

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

·          Provide comprehensive psychosocial support:

-       Deliver empatheic psychological support to patients exhibiting severe mental health symptoms, working closely with the Mhgap doctors.

-       Maintain the confidentiality of all patients records in compliance with relevant regulations and ethical standards

  • Supervise and coordinate MHPSS activities:

-       Lead and coordinate mental health and psychosocial support activities initiatives within both hospital and community settings

-       Develop and implement a detailed supervision plan that outlines responsibilities, timeliness, and accountability measures for all MHPSS staff.

  • Assess training needs and propose Plans:

-       Conduct thorough assessments to identify the training needs of the medical staff concerning mental health practices and integration into medical activities.

-       Formulate targeted training topics and submit quarterly proposals to the mental health activity manager to enhance staff competency

  • Ensure Data Responsibility Among MHPSS team:

-       Hold the MHPSS team accountable for maintaing accurate data and comprehensive line lists, fostering a culture of ownership and diligence regarding data management

  • Deliver timely data analysis and reporting:

-       Provide insightful and timely analyses of relevant MHPSS data, producing monthly reports that encapsulate findings and inform MHAM about trends and operational needs.

  • Establish a clear clinical clinical supervision svchedule

-       Develop a structured and transparent clinical supervision schedule for all MHPSS staff, ensuring consistent feedback and support to enhance clincal practices and patient coutcomes.

·         Peform other task or responsibility as assigned by the mental health activity manager

Experiences and Qualifications

Education

·         Degree in psychology

Experience

·         At least 2 years’ experience working as a psychologist in an emergency context

·         At least 2 years’ experience working in a supervisory role, leading mental health program and team

·         Experience working in a multidisciplinary team

Language

·         English language essential, Somalia language desire English and local language is  essential.

Knowledge

·         Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
