Tender Description

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)

DATE: 8th October 2025

TENDER NO.: WVI/SLD/013/FY25

DESCRIPTION:  Expression of Interest– Fiqi Ayuub water supply rehabilitation and upgrading

Access to WASH facilities is poor throughout the country. In 2023, only 53% of the population had access to safe water through a sustainable water supply, with only 28% accessing improved sanitation facilities [1]. The Multi-Cluster Needs Analysis (MSNA) 2024 indicates 73% of HHs do not treat their drinking water, 34% of the interviewed people defecate in the open and 30% rely on unhygienic, unimproved latrines. Severe drought conditions, seasonal flooding, lingering conflicts, and AWD remain the key drivers of WASH needs and risks in Somaliland. WASH is one of the two main drivers of humanitarian needs across Somaliland with significant regional variations. The population groups of concern include newly displaced persons due to drought, conflicts, and vulnerable IDPs living in overcrowded camps with poor WASH services. Poor WASH correlates to a high prevalence of acute watery diarrhea and frequent cholera outbreaks, both of which have a negative impact on nutritional outcomes to the targeted districts of Burao and Odwayne.
