Background
The Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) is an independent, non-political humanitarian organization that was founded in April 1963 and was established with presidential decree No. 187 in 1965. It was then recognized by the ICRC in 1969 and in the same year became a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent societies.
Roles and Responsibilities of this Position:
o Undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Registered Nurse/Midwife
o Assist in the registration of patients by accurately recording relevant information
o Conduct weight and height measurements record body temperature and blood pressure as well as collecting specimens for investigation
o Administer vaccines, dress wounds, disinfect and sterilize medical instruments
o Carry out routine dressings in accordance with guidelines
o Collect clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal
o Clean, disinfect and sterilize medical instruments and prepare treatment rooms prior to use
o Participate in health promotion and home visits to deliver vaccines
o Participate in emergency preparedness, rapid assessments and emergency responses
o Perform other related duties as assigned by the SRSC Senior Management
Education Secondary School Certificate or equivalent qualifications
Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI)
Professional Training
Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM)
