CONSULTANCY TO ESTABLISH DRIP IRRIGATION SYSTEMS IN SELECTED FARMS IN THE KISMAYO AND LUUQ DISTRICTS
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has been present in Somalia since 2004. Over these years, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has demonstrated a regional competence and expertise in working with displaced and host community populations, providing protection and humanitarian assistance to internally displaced persons, returnees, refugees and poor host communities with strategic programming priorities focusing on Shelter, WASH, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Protection, and Information, Counselling, and legal assistance (ICLA).
Jubaland Somalia has been on the path to recovery from the adverse effects of the 2021/2022 drought and famine as well as the recent Deyr season El Nino phenomenon heavy rains/floods of 2023. In Jubaland Somalia, NRC is implementing one-year Norad-funded project in Kismayo, Lower Juba region and Luuq, Gedo region, to improve the capacity of the farmers on climate smart production techniques and technologies. In both districts, NRC is establishing solar-powered irrigation systems to improve climate resilient Food production, Nutrition & Income Security. Two irrigation systems will be established / extended in Qamqam and Yontoy villages in Kismayo district and one irrigation system will be established in Jazeera village, Luuq town. These systems will improve farmers access to water for agriculture and livestock. The sizes of the farms are in the technical documents (designs) that will be provided to the consultant during the bid collection.

NRC seeks to invite qualified consultants/firms who meet the following requirements to submit their detailed proposal on how to undertake the assignment.
