Contracting Agency: Taakulo Somali Community – Partnered with WHH

Welthungerhilfe (WHH), a private aid organization in Germany, was established in 1962 as part of the Freedom from Hunger campaign led by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. It provides assistance in disaster relief, reconstruction, and long-term development cooperation projects. Since its inception, WHH has funded over 6,600 projects in 70 countries, including Somaliland, since 2001. The organization has expanded into South/Central Somalia through local implementing partners. WHH's strategic focus is on building resilience and strengthening local humanitarian leadership, with 2023-2024 activities focusing on responding to the current drought crisis through humanitarian relief.

Taakulo Somali Community (TASCO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2007 to assist disadvantaged communities in Somalia and Ethiopia. TASCO focuses on development, emergency relief, resilience building, and promoting local community engagement. The organization aims to help communities impacted by drought, famine, war, and conflict. Projects are based on the needs of the communities, with beneficiaries always involved in the planning process. TASCO engages in long-term partnerships with beneficiaries to implement integrated programs such as health, education, water and sanitation, livelihood, orphan sponsorship, disability, and peace building.

With funding from BMZ, WHH, and TASCO, we are implementing a project focused on Sustainable WASH Systems (SWS) to enhance rural water services in the Awdal region of Somaliland. The project aims to strengthen global WASH programs and contribute to achieving SDG 6 by incorporating core elements of WHH's Sustainable Services Initiative. It will pilot a systems-based approach to water supply, engaging key stakeholders while addressing financial, institutional, environmental, and political factors.

TASCO invites competent contractors to submit sealed bids for the Rehabilitation and Extension of Water Supply Systems in Boon, Dilla, Cali Xaydh, Garaaca and Caro-cad villages under Awdal Region. This work aims to enhance the water infrastructure through supply, installation, and civil works as per the attached Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
