ANNOUNCEMENT

 

 Post:  School Administrator

 Duty Station: Burao

Duration of contract: Three Months with Possible extension

Deadline: 2nd Feb  2026

 

 

Candlelight Schools were established in 1997 with the aim of providing quality, inclusive, and affordable education to communities that had limited access to formal schooling. Since their establishment, the schools have been guided by a strong commitment to academic excellence, moral development, and social responsibility. The core goal of Candlelight Schools is to nurture well-rounded students by offering a balanced education that combines strong academic foundations with character building, critical thinking, and life skills. Through a learner-centered approach, qualified teachers, and a supportive learning environment, Candlelight Schools strive to empower students to reach their full potential and to contribute positively to their families, communities, and the wider society. Candlelight Secondary School is looking for  qualified and dynamic Secondary School Administrator.

  Responsibilities/duties

The main tasks and responsibilities of the school administrator will be the following:

1.      School Administration

 

ü  Oversee day-to-day administrative operations of the secondary school.

ü  Support the Principal in planning, implementing, and monitoring school activities.

ü  Assist in enforcing school policies, rules, and procedures.

ü  Coordinate student attendance records, absenteeism, and leave tracking.

ü  Maintain student enrollment, transfers, withdrawals, and registration records.

ü  Ensure proper filing, documentation, and achieving school records.

 

2.      Supporting the principal for day-to-day activities

 

ü  Support the Principal during his/her absence or when officially delegated.

ü  Support academic supervision, discipline, and student welfare

ü  Assist in coordinating teaching and learning activities, examinations, and assessments

ü  Participate in staff meetings, disciplinary committees, and parent engagements as required

ü  Support conflict resolution involving students, staff, or parents

3.       Secretarial and Office Management

ü  Perform all secretarial duties, including typing, drafting, and filing correspondence.

ü  Manage the Principal’s schedule, appointments, and official communications.

ü  Receive, record, and dispatch incoming and outgoing correspondence.

ü  Maintain confidential files and ensure data protection and professionalism.

 

4.       Academic and Examination Support

 

ü  Coordinate examination schedules, invigilation arrangements, and documentation.

ü  Support preparation, printing, storage, and filing of exam-related materials.

ü  Maintain accurate records of student performance, reports, and certificates.

ü  Liaise with examination bodies, education authorities, and partner institutions.

 

5.       Staff and Student Coordination

 

ü  Serve as a key liaison between school administration, teachers, students, and parents.

ü  Support the onboarding of new teachers and the orientation of students.

ü  Assist in organizing school meetings, assemblies, workshops, and events.

ü  Handle inquiries, complaints, and general administrative requests professionally.

 

6.       Finance and Asset Support (Administrative Role)

 

ü  Support administrative documentation related to fees, payments, and school finances.

ü  Maintain inventory records of school assets, supplies, and equipment.

ü  Assist in procurement documentation and record keeping as required.

 

7.      Compliance, Reporting, and Communication

 

ü  Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education regulations and school policies.

ü  Assist in preparing periodic reports for school management and authorities.

ü  Maintain accurate databases and records for audits and inspections.

ü  Communicate official school information to staff, students, and parents.

Experiences and Qualifications

  1. Degree in Business Administration- specialized in Accounting
  2.  3years  experience in School Administration
  3. Fluent in English both Verbal and written
  4. Knowledge of   target  community is added advantage
