Job Description:

Project Officer- Gender, Protection, and Accountability

Purpose of the position:

The purpose of the Project OfficerGender, Protection, and Accountability is to lead the implementation and establish a robust feedback, complaint, and protection system for the Joint Resilience Project (JRP) in Galkayo and surrounding areas. He/she will be responsible for ensuring Gender and Protection Mainstreaming, Feedback, and Compliance Mechanisms are in place for all World Vision Somalia’s humanitarian grants in the region (Puntland - Mudug, Somalia);

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Consortium M&E design and learning
  • Working closely with the line Project Manager, Monitoring Accountability Evaluation and Learning (MEAL) Manager.
  • Support partner staff training in routine data collection tools, management, analysis, and how to use data to showcase impact (Capacity building)
  • Actively represent WVI at local child protection and gender coordination forums
  • Ensuring accountability and protection system is an integral part of project design and implementation
  • Ensure humanitarian projects mainstreamed Gender-based violence and protection

Experiences and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Science, Social Work, Gender Studies, Development Work, or any related subject. 
  • Demonstrate experience in advocacy and policy advancement work in child protection or gender
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian standards for child protection and GBV is a requirement
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in protection project implementation
  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills
  • Must adhere to set security standards
  • Ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work
  • Competence in the use of MS Office, and MS Excel.
  • Strong capacity-building and facilitation skills, accompanied by cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work in and contribute to the team-building environment.
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments

Working Environment:

  • The position is based in Galkacyo and will require frequent travel to other field locations.
