Health Poverty Action is an international NGO who takes a justice-oriented approach to its programmes, developing strong community roots, creating comprehensive and integrated health systems, and addressing the social determinants of health. We work in partnership with people around the world who are pursuing change in their own communities. Together we demand health justice and challenge the power imbalances that currently deny people of their health rights. We believe health is not just the absence of disease, but a combination of physical, mental and social well-being. We are part of a global movement for health justice – the People’s Health Movement (PHM). In Somaliland, we implement integrated programmes that include health system strengthening, disease prevention and control, health education, prevention of harmful traditional practices, income generation, food security and nutrition, water and sanitation, and gender equality.
