Position: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Intern (Beledweyne, Somalia)

ActionAid International Somalia (AAIS) is seeking a motivated and committed MEAL Intern who demonstrates a strong interest in humanitarian and development work, with emerging skills in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning. The intern will support the organization in strengthening program quality, collecting and analyzing data, documenting results, and promoting evidence-based decision-making to enhance the impact of AAIS initiatives across different programs.
The Role:
The MEAL Intern will provide practical support to the MEAL Coordinator in implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities across AAIS programs in Somalia and will be based in the AAIS office in Beledweyne. The Intern will be assisting with data collection, entry, verification, and analysis to ensure quality, consistency, and timely reporting. The intern will contribute to the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports, document case studies, success stories, lessons learned, and other qualitative evidence, and support the development of knowledge products that promote organizational learning. They will assist in implementing community feedback and complaint response mechanisms, participate in data quality assurance exercises and field monitoring visits, and provide logistical and administrative support for MEAL-related trainings, workshops, and evaluations.
This internship aims to give the intern hands-on experience in MEAL systems and practices within a dynamic NGO environment, building their technical and professional skills, exposing them to rights-based programming, and enhancing their capacity to apply MEAL principles in program planning, implementation, and evaluation, while contributing to ActionAid’s mission of promoting social justice and poverty eradication.
Expected deliverables include:
- Regularly updated MEAL databases,
- Monthly data summaries and briefs,
- Draft reports and field monitoring summaries
- Active participation in MEAL and program learning events.
