Overview of position
Our client plays a vital role in supporting African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM),United Nations Transition Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), Somali Security Forces (SSF) and affiliated UN Agencies
The position of Logistics Assistant is situated within the front office of the Service Delivery Pillar in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Role objectives
Under delegated authority, the Logistics Assistant will undertake the following duties:
Coordinate logistics delivers of SD Pillar to end clients through, land, or sea within the designated area.
Identify and mobilize resources for special logistics operations, oversee their implementation, and report on progress.
Deliver and coordinate logistics support to military, police, security, and substantive components of the mission
Draft and coordinate logistics plans and other documents required for the implementation of logistics operations, as directed by the Section Chief.
Prepare and coordinate inputs to logistics reports, presentations, briefing notes, and other information documents needed by management, including inputs required by UN Headquarters.
Liaise and coordinate logistics support with SD within the Client, such as transportation, Aviation, Engineering and facility management, movement control, and Medical Service Section including any crosscutting areas.
Coordinate logistics requirements with other UN Missions and Agencies.
Liaise and coordinate logistics support with UN Headquarters.
Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting, and internal control systems are in place and that all relevant records are maintained.
Ensure that logistics requirements address gender-specific needs.
Plan and exercise mission led transition plan for UNTMIS and AUSSOM including mission’s drawdown and liquidation activities.
Perform other related duties as required.
Advanced university degree in logistics, business administration, public administration or another relevant field is required. (essential).
Bachelor’s degree in combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree (desirable).
Sector experienceMinimum of 5 year/s of demonstrable relevant experience in surface and / or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial or international organizations or related areas (essential).
Geographical experienceMinimum of 5 year/s of experience in Somalia (desirable).
LanguagesFluent in English (essential).
Working level in Somali (desirable).
