Overview of position
Job purpose:
The International Security Analyst assists the program.
General professional experience:
Total professional experience in the field of security analysis of minimum 7 years.
Role objectives
Prior working experience in international organizations & / or international civilian or military missions is desirable.
Prior analytical work experience based in Somalia on political & security related matters, is highly desirable.
Project reporting
This role reports to the line manager.
Key competencies
Successful completion of university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma or a qualification in the national qualifications framework which is equivalent to level 6 in the European qualifications framework or a qualification of the first cycle under the framework of qualifications of the European higher education area, e.g. bachelor's degree or equivalent & attested police or / & military education or training or an award of an equivalent rank, according to NATO standards (OF - 1 or above), in addition to the attested academic / military / police education as referred above, the incumbent person should demonstrate at least 4 years of relevant professional experience in security reporting & analysis.
If the education requirement cannot be met, the incumbent should demonstrate at least 7 years of relevant professional experience in the domain of security reporting & analysis.
IT & radio literate, conversant with Sat phones (e.g., Iridium, Thuraya) & GPS systems.
Proficient user in English language (minimum level required C1 of the common European framework of reference for languages).
Thorough analytical & critical thinking skills.
Excellent drafting & reporting skills to address diverse audiences & very good presentations skills.
Excellent organizational skills & strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, graphs, etc.) & / or Access, Outlook & knowledge of GIS tools (e.g. Google Earth, ArcGis & Tableau etc.
Be physically able to perform all general duties, functions & activities.
Be physically fit to perform all assigned duties.
Proficient / independent in English language (speaking, writing, listening & reading); required minimum level of B2, desirable minimum level of C1.
First aid qualified (FPOS or equivalent).
Weapons qualified on all the weapons used by the contractor.
Clear criminal record.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including positive, cooperative, discrete & diplomatic nature.
Customer service orientation.
Team management
This role has no team management responsibility.
