Assignment Background:

African Children’s Rights Foundation (ACRIF) is accepting applicants from immunization technical experts to support the Somalia/Somaliland national and sub-national immunization programs. The selection of successful applicants is subject to availability of funding.

Summary of Position:

ACRIF is seeking an Immunization Technical Consultants (ITC) to join our team, providing essential technical support and expertise in the development, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of interventions aimed at enhancing sustainable and high-quality routine immunization coverage. The ITCs will collaborate closely with Ministries of Health/EPIs and multi-agency partners to bolster vaccine planning and strengthen immunization systems within routine delivery frameworks.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

The Immunization Technical Consultants (ITC) will provide technical support and expertise in the design, implementation, evaluation and documentation of interventions leading to sustainable and high-quality routine immunization coverage. This may include the provision of guidance to review existing immunization programs, and providing technical input to improve planning, data analysis and use, management, coordination, training, monitoring, and/or evaluation of immunization services. The ITCs will work with MOH/EPIs and multi-agency partners to support vaccine planning and immunization system strengthening as part of routine delivery systems.

The primary responsibilities during the consultancy will be:

Provide technical assistance for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of immunization programs;

Serve as a technical experts and key team members/lead for country support related to routine immunization and system strengthening, and other aspects of quality immunization service delivery;

 

Support MOH/EPI teams in the development and monitoring of short, medium and long-term plans, review and updates of key program strategies, development of reports and technical deliverables, and performance reviews;

 

Provide technical expertise to the EPI program at national/sub-national levels to collect, consolidate, validate, manage and analyze immunization data from different sources;

 

Provide technical support to the strengthening immunization supply chain system, including all relevant processes, stakeholders, and infrastructure;

 

Participate in and train others in use of data at national/sub-national levels to strengthen planning, management and monitoring of progress towards achievement of the immunization program results; and

 

Provide technical expertise and advisement to ensure high quality delivery of immunization services, and best practices and innovations are rapidly integrated into the program rollout plans.

Experiences and Qualifications

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Below are the required qualifications for this consultancy:

Graduate degree in public health or equivalent and a minimum 12 years working as a public health practitioner (this should not include clinical work);

Including a minimum of 7 years direct experience providing technical assistance on routine immunization at national or sub-national level;

Experience as an advisor to ministries of health, international agencies and/or NGO public health programs;

Proven ability to assess routine immunization needs and to develop and implement successful program interventions, including prior experience with;

Proven ability to support national or sub-national immunization planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation;

Strong organizational and communication skills for coordinating and influencing partners and decision makers at all levels;

Excellent interpersonal and team skills–demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse staff and consultants;

Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality;

Somali and English languages professional experience is preferred;

Excellent written and oral communication and computer skills (including with various electronic platforms); technical writing experience (guidelines, publications)
