Program Description (Background)
BACKGROUND TO THE ASSIGNMENT:
International Medical Corps (IMC), through the project “Supporting the Somali Health System to Respond to Increased Heat and Extreme Heat Events”, aims to raise public awareness about the health risks associated with extreme heat and climate-induced heatwaves. As Somalia experiences rising temperatures, the frequency and severity of heat-related illnesses are expected to increase, particularly among vulnerable populations including people with cardiovascular conditions, pregnant women, children, and the elderly.
To enhance public education and preventive health actions, IMC seeks to engage a qualified Climate Health Expert Consultant to participate in a monthly radio program that educates the public on the impacts of heat on human health and promotes community-level adaptation and preventive measures.

Requirements
Qualifications: Advanced degrees in Public Health, Environmental Health, or related discipline.
Experience: Demonstrated expertise in climate and health education, with a focus on heat impacts. Competency: Excellent Communication skills in Somali and English Languages: English & Somali
