Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for Enumerators to support our field operations with the displaced and vulnerable communities in Mogadishu. This is a daily wage based support position paid based on tasks assigned by Human Appeal-Somalia and successfully undertaken by the Enumerator.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide. Human Appeal has 7 International Field Offices across Africa, Asia and the Middle East (Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Turkey, and Yemen). Human Appeal Somalia Field office programme operations are based in Mogadishu and Galgadud and previously in Gedo and Bai region regions with a programmatic focus in the sectors of; WASH, Shelter, FSL, Education/Child Sponsorship, Protection and Health and Nutrition.

Main Job Purpose

To support the programme team by undertaking assigned field related activities in the target communities and IDP camps in Mogadishu, and from time to time support with office clerical roles related to the field tasks when and whenever necessary.

Key Roles and Responsibilities for the enumerators

1.      Support in data collection and reporting during the various survey, monitoring and evaluation exercises.

2.      Support in beneficiary identification and registration exercises following HA Somalia beneficiary selection criteria.

3.      Support in food distribution during the feed the fasting (FtF) program in the holy months of Ramadan

4.      Support with office clerical work in line with specific field activities for which the roles require extra time in the office.

5.      Support with child sponsorship programme activities in line with HA Somalia Child Protection Policies and Procedures.

6.      Support with HA Somalia Communications works in line with set policies and procedures.

7.      Support in monitoring humanitarian and developments trends in collaboration with the programme team and support in timely documentation and reporting of key issues impacting the communities in Somalia;

8.      Ensure respect and adhere to HA Somalia security requirements;

Experiences and Qualifications

Experience and Technical Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields of education and adimistration.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in humanitarian/development settings.

Good command of English language both written and spoken. Good report writing and editing skills.

Ability to work independently, exercise judgement and flexibility in a very challenging environment.

Demonstrated organizational skills and a team player. Reliable, able to consistently meet tight deadlines.

Demonstrable experience with mobile data collection platforms, particularly ODK and tablet-based field surveys

Good computer skills – especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other web based data bases.

Desirable Skills:

Good on assessments and case management.

Solid understanding of the political context in Somalia, including security and economic situation.

Understanding of and commitment to the following principles: cultural sensitivity, local ownership, sustainability, inclusiveness, local partnership, non-discrimination, do-no-harm, and apolitical approach; codes of conduct against sexual exploitation and abuse; and against child exploitation and modern slavery;
