Responsible to: Project Manager.                              

Location: Burao (Togdheer region)

NGO PRESENTATION

Created in 1982, Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent and impartial international aid organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Working alongside people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, our actions are focused on responding to their essential needs, improving their living conditions and promoting respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights. HI was the co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 for its role in the International Campaign to Ban Landmines and was awarded (October 2016) a prize by the Office of the Presidency in Somaliland for services to Persons with Disabilities.

 

Humanity & Inclusion started in Somaliland in 1992 by setting up a rehabilitation center in Hargeisa. HI’s strategy in Somaliland is to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and to engage development actors to promote inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable people at local and national level. 

 

Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is currently planning to implement 22 months humanitarian aid project in Somaliland for IDPs in Togdheer; “Rehabilitation, Inclusive Humanitarian Action (IHA), MHPSS & Stimulation Therapy in Crisis-Affected Sub-Saharan Africa (RIMSCASSA) for vulnerable groups, Phase 2.

 

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POSITION

 

ROLE OF THE EMPLOYEE

Based in Burao under the line-management of Project Manager and she/he will be responsible to:

 

Responsibility 1: ACTIVITY IMPLEMENTATION

 

-          closely collaborate and support with case workers and project for identification, referrals and follow ups.

-          Plan, Implement and monitor day to day work of the case workers.

-          Engage community leaders in HI project areas and IDPs.

-          Mapping of relevant external actors for referral purpose and collaborate with all the potential identified partners and maintain close coordination for case management of referral cases.

-          Organize and facilitate community meetings sessions and discussion on various protection issues.

-          Regularly monitor the project’s activities and provide feedbacks for ensuring for improvement.

-          Support the case workers in mapping of services

-          Ensure that the plan developed by the PM is implemented by the case workers.

-          Handle requests regarding project information and data.

-          Ensure that the paper work sent to finance in Hargeisa if fully verified and complete.

 

Responsibility 2: Internal coordination with support services for smooth implementation of activities.

  • Liaise with logistics and finance department as per the procedures in place to undertake purchase & expenditures as required for activities implementation
  • Keep informed about any security/ safety issues and report to the line manager

Responsibility 3: REPRESENTATION

 

-          General representation S/he participates to the, regional coordination meetings

-          Direct coordination with other/local actors working in the area.

-          Supervise and overall activities monitor activities and closely work with case workers and other team. 

 

 

DOCUMENTATION and REPORTING

-          Ensure a proper documentation (pictures, field visit report, and case stories) of each one of the field supervisions visits.

-          Participate to the monthly situation report by providing relevant data to the line-manager;

 

OTHERS (To demonstrate an ethic and professional practice):

 

-          Respect beneficiary confidentiality and accountability.

-          Treat them with respect and dignities.

-          Respect, promote and implement all HI’s Safe Guarding Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners.

-          Address needs and requests in a professional way.

-          Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.

-          Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers.

-          Always respect a refusal of treatment.

Experiences and Qualifications

 Bachelor’s or Master degree In Project Management, Social Work, development studies or other relevant field from a recognized institution.

-          Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience PM assistant or similar role, with experience in the field of humanitarian response and IDP camps working for an international NGO or UN agency.

-          Experience working with displaced or conflict affected populations In Togdheer region.

-          Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team.

-          Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure.

-          Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.

-          Full proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Ability to work under high pressure,
