POLISH HUMANITARIAN ACTION IS LOOKING FOR MEAL ASSISTANT

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is a non-governmental organization which mission it is to make the world a better place. For over 20 years, we have been providing relief in big and small emergencies worldwide alongside with running long-term missions in several countries in crisis.
Our interventions – of both humanitarian and development character– have been carried out in 44 countries so far. Our focus is on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering the consequences of war and/or natural disasters. PAH Mission in Somalia:
PAH has been present in Somalia since 2011. With WASH, FSL and Nutrition programs PAH supported people from the most vulnerable communities in different regions in Somalia. Our primary focus is to provide safe drinking water through rehabilitation of water infrastructure, constructing water distribution systems, and constructing rain water reservoirs. In our work we also focus on other WASH components such as improvement of sanitary conditions, hygiene promotion to make our WASH interventions fully comprehensive. Our current donors are ECHO, ARCHENOVA, SHF and UNICEF. PAH programs targets the most vulnerable IDPs, host and rural communities as well as institutions in Banadir, Lower Shebelle, Middle Shebelle and Galmudug Region.
PAH in Somalia is looking for a MEAL Assistant who will become part of our operation team. The person will hold the following responsibilities:
· Assists in the development of effective, culturally-appropriate and inclusive data collection tools by reviewing the existing tools and providing suggestions for improvement.
· Assists in designing MEAL activities for new and ongoing projects, including the designing of M&E plans, data collection tools
· Assist in the collection of high-quality data through training of enumerators and daily supervision of data collection exercises.
· Checks collected data daily to ensure it is of high-quality, provides daily feedback to enumerators on requirement improvements in the data collection.
· Conducts regular field monitoring of ongoing projects, provides timely reports to the project staff and MEAL Coordinator and works closely with the project teams to facilitate the implementation of recommendations.
· Carries out M&E activities such as household interviews, Focus Group Discussions, Key Informant interviews, observations as well as other baseline and end line studies, Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM) and Participatory Impact Monitoring (PIM) activities as agreed with MEAL Coordinator
· Contributes to improving accountability to affected populations by organizing meetings with communities, providing information about PAH’s CFRM system and collecting feedback on the preferred C&F channels.
· Receives, documents and disseminates complaints and feedback from beneficiaries and other stakeholders and follows up with relevant authorities/departments within the organization to ensure prompt action is taken.
· Assist in preparing monitoring reports such as baselines, endlines, PDM/PIMs.
· Support the program team in designing assessment tools and performance tracking tools.
· Any other duties as required by the supervisor
A diploma in social sciences or equivalent qualification in a related field of study.
· A minimum of 2 years’ experience at a position with a similar work responsibility.
· Reasonable knowledge of current MEAL systems like Data analysis, designing tools, data collection and analysis, and use of statistical software like SPSS/STATA.
· Good verbal and written communication skills. Excellent written and spoken English
· Ability to work with a wide range of material, compare and verify information from different sources
· Problems solving skills
· Good interpersonal skills and Understanding of wider context
· Flexibility and willingness to travel extensively in Somalia.
