Overview of position
Under the overall guidance of the Unit Chief of Somali Security Forces Support Unit (SSF SU), the Logistics Assistant shall be responsible for provision of logistics support services.
Role objectives
Logistics Assistants shall be responsible but not limited to the following:
Provides effective and timely planning, oversight, and coordination of logistics support operations.
Ensures effective and timely provision and coordination of diverse logistics support requirements.
Liaises between various stake holders, including our client, SSF, JSOC, ATMIS staff and various SSF offices on logistics matters and coordinates day-to-day support of logistics operations.
Ensures the monitoring of our cleint support material is distributed according to UNSCR mandate and accounted for. Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
Performs other related duties as required. Establishes and maintains an effective and efficient organization for the central control and coordination of all issuances from the SNA Trust Fund.
Coordinates and directs the planning of loads and tasking of UN transport resources, which includes liaison with MOVCON, SUPPLY, AIR OPS for carriage through SFR and regular flights, for the multi-modal movement of personnel and the physical distribution of supplies, material and equipment, throughout the Mission AOR.
Maintains effective liaison with all Sections, including Budget, to obtain accurate information is shared in a transparent manner for costings and reporting.
Visits to the regional hubs, with the possibility of overnight stays.
Project reporting
Daily Movement Logs: Track and record all personnel and cargo movements, including CMRs, ATRs, and MOPs.
Weekly Operational Summary : Summarize logistics activities, challenges, and support provided to AUSSOM, ATMIS, SSF, and UNCT.
Monthly Transition Support Report : Provide a comprehensive update on logistics support aligned with the Somali Transition Plan, including FOB handovers/closures and gender-sensitive planning.
Incident and Compliance Reports: Submit reports on any deviations from protocols, safety incidents, or compliance issues on a adhoc basis.
Required qualifications and experience for this role:
High school diploma is required. Training in logistics, supply chain management, inventory, asset management or another relevant field is desirable.
A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of logistics or other related fields practical work.
Experience in logistics support to military units and knowledge of tracking and updating inventory records. Working experience in Somalia is an added advantage.
Fluency in oral and written English is required. A working knowledge of oral and written Somali language is highly desirable.
