LOCATION:  Mustahil/Fer-Fer  

GRADE:  3B

Child Safeguarding:

 

Level 3:  Level 3:  the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff

 

ROLE PURPOSE: 

 

Responsible for day-to-day activities of the implementation and the evaluation of the project. This position has the role of implementing, closely monitoring, and evaluating the program activities, and securing commitments and accountability for FSL results in the implementation area. Ensure correct beneficiary selection procedure and criteria are used during the beneficiary targeting process. Ensure any feedback from beneficiaries or target communities is correctly collected and shared with the FSL Coordinator is responded to appropriately, or is raised with the FSL manager, FSL Advisor, or Field office manager if needed.

SCOPE OF ROLE: 

Report to: FSL Program Manager

Dimensions: Save the Children works in 9 regions in Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately 1,800 staff and a current expenditure of approximately $90+ million each year.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • This position has the role of implementing, following up, monitoring, and evaluating the program activities, and securing commitments and accountability for FSL results in the implementation area.
  • Responsible for FSL day-to-day activity implementation in project targeted Woreda of Shabelle Zone.
     Work closely with FSL Coordinator, local government line offices, and the communities in the planning and coordination of Save the Children FSL Activity Under the Gode Field Office
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the FSL Manager regarding project activities from the Field  
  • Ensure correct beneficiary selection procedure and criteria are followed by community mobilizers/representatives and committees.
  •  Ensure any feedback from beneficiaries or target communities brought by the community members is responded to appropriately or raised with Project liaising with the FO MEAL team
  • Laise with line manager, Advisor, or other SCI project staff as needed
  • Coordinate with the FSL manager, Field office finance, and supply chain in the planning of cash distribution and livestock food activities.
  • Ensure that beneficiaries are adequately communicated about project activities and plans, including distribution date and conditions required for verification. 
  • Liaising with the Field Office MEAL team on PDM tools and price monitoring tools and regularly checking the quality of information collected
  • Provide regular progress reports to the FSL manager as per the requirement
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly plans for monitoring, review, and quarterly and annual project reports and plans
  • Be fully aware of how far the project fulfills child rights in terms of SCI’s strategic and thematic plans.  Ensure that Child Rights programming is effectively incorporated into all aspects of SCI’s work
  • Organize meetings to sensitize communities about the purpose and modalities of the food security and livelihoods project components 
  • Ensure all document relevant distribution data (Beneficiary List, Master List are well Completed and Corrected)
  • Participate and lead the selection of beneficiaries for the different Criteria
  • Works closely with implementing partners to oversee the quality of work and provide technical support

Experiences and Qualifications

  • B.A/BSC degree in agriculture, livelihoods, rural development, economics or related field.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • At least 3 years of proven experience in livelihoods, animal health, NRM and DRR, food security, and/or emergency livelihood/food security interventions in NGOs or similar organizations in pastoral areas for degree holders and 5 years of experience with Diploma Holders with similar field of study. 
  • Strong Knowledge of Cash Transfer Modality and Selection Criteria and livestock interventions 
  • Substantial experience in managing teams, coordinating, mobilizing community, planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring, and reporting
  • Proven ability to manage a complex and demanding workload
  • Excellent Report Writing and English proficiency skills
  • Experience and knowledge of pastoral context preferably Somali region and knowledge of Somali language is advantageous
  • Good advocacy, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to train and mentor staff
  • Work experience in diverse international NGOs is an asset
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work in rural areas where the project is implemented

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY 

  • Position holder must have good interpersonal skills & an excellent team player
  • Knowledge of the local language (language)

  • Knowledge of and adherence to SC Code of Conduct, understands other international development guidelines.
