HI’s strategy in Somalia is to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and to engage developmentactors to promote inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable people at local and nationallevel.RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POSITIONPosition will be based inBurao,under the direct line-management ofSupply Chain and Facility Officer. He worksclosely with the rest of the Humanity and Inclusion team.Responsibility 1: Transportation• Transport staff and material as per given schedules and with respect to linemanager planning and instruction• Respect road regulations as well as Handicap procedures with regard to the speed limit andbehavior atcheckpoints• Ensure all passengers respect security rules in the vehicle (seat belts fastened, no smoking…)• Fill in properly the logbook (movements, fuel refill, maintenance) and keep all personal documents as well asthose of the vehicle with you and check that they are valid (driving license, insurance paper, HI ID card…)• Ensure all materials transported in the vehicle are properly loaded and secured
• During duty, remain on active standby within close distance of the vehicle
• Immediately report any traffic accident involving the vehicle, issue with authorities, or general informationabout the road condition to the supervisor
• Know the city plan, especially HI staff houses, INGOs offices, UN offices … and relevant partner’s offices.
Responsibility 2: Vehicle Maintenance
• Check his vehicle every day prior to departure (general condition, engine oil, cooling fluid, lights, tires etc) aswell as upon return to the base
• Wash the car when needed and upon request of the line manager
• Undertake minor maintenance (filter cleaning, levels, tire pressure…) and ensure that the vehicle is kept cleanand in good running condition at all times
• Ensure fuel refill of the vehicle when requested and properly fill in the necessary documents
• Check the availability in his vehicle of all necessary documents, first aid kit, and security toolbox
• Immediately inform the supervisor in case of any issue with the vehicle
• Record all the maintenance done in the Logbook of the vehicle
Responsibility 3: Respect of agenda movement
• Inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before departure so as to be on time
• Prepare additional equipment to be brought along according to the needs (fuel, stickers, flags, tools, medicalkit)
• Pack materials received for dispatch, affixes labels, insert material in envelopes and prepare waybills
• Guarantee good loading and unloading of the car and tight the goods in anappropriate way
Responsibility 4: Support to Logistics
• Deliver or pick up material or documents and ensure their transportation
• Participate in the loading and unloading materials from/to vehicles
• Assist in stock management and monthly physical inventories (Consumables, cleaning products andstationeries).
• Assist in Equipment management and yearly physical inventories.
• Assist the logistics team in archiving documents (Printing, filing, scanning …)
• Assist in minor reparation for premises (office, guesthouse, warehouse)
• Perform any other tasks as requested by supervisorNote that this job description must remain flexible; the list of tasks set out above is not exhaustive and is subject tochanges resulting from the diversity of Humanity and Inclusion- Handicap international activities to respond toadditional tasks or changes as identified by the line manager.
Education:
• Essential Literacy: Secondary Education with proficient English Language
Experience:
• Essential: At least 3 yearsprofessional driving experience with an International NGO
• Essential: Having valid Somaliland Driving license
• Desirable: University EducationLanguage
• Essential: Somali Native
• Other:• Essential: English language (basic)Writing andcommunication skills
