Background:
Muslim Hands Somalia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving lives of vulnerable communities. We seek a skilled Social Media Consultant to enhance our online presence, engage our community, and effectively communicate the impact of our work.
Scope of Work:
This is a remote position, requiring only your skills, time, and genuine passion for supporting vulnerable communities. You will be supporting team in Somalia.
About the candidate
We are looking for a creative, proactive, and tech-savvy individual with a passion for storytelling and social impact. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a remote work setting, takes initiative, and can translate field experiences into compelling online content that resonates with diverse audiences. You are detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to balance strategic communication goals with day-to-day content creation. Most importantly, you are motivated by the mission of supporting vulnerable communities and using digital platforms to amplify their voices and stories.
The Social Media Consultant will be responsible for:
· Managing and growing our social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter/X.
· Editing videos and writing scripts for stories and video content.
· Providing guidance and training to program teams on capturing compelling stories aligned with social media strategies.
· Creating and drafting short success and impact stories highlighting beneficiaries and project outcomes.
· Creating captivating content to maximize stakeholder engagement and participation.
· Demonstrating the ability to operate cameras, including different models, to capture high-quality photos and videos.
· Experience managing communication for social media accounts, script writing, videos making and editing etc.
· Strong skills in video editing and storytelling, including scriptwriting.
· Ability to craft concise, impactful narratives that highlight beneficiary stories and program impact.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with program teams.
· Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
· Excellent English skills, both written and verbal, to effectively coordinate with on-ground teams.
· Proficiency in virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Google Workspace).
· Knowledge of social media trends, algorithms, and best practices for audience engagement is a requirement.
· Experience in fundraising communications or donor engagement is a plus.
