Position: Case worker.               

Responsible to: PM Assistant.

Location: Burao (Togdheer region)

NGO PRESENTATION

Created in 1982, Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent and impartial international aid organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Working alongside people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, our actions are focused on responding to their essential needs, improving their living conditions and promoting respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights. HI was the co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 for its role in the International Campaign to Ban Landmines and was awarded (October 2016) a prize by the Office of the Presidency in Somaliland for services to Persons with Disabilities.

 

Humanity & Inclusion started in Somaliland in 1992 by setting up a rehabilitation center in Hargeisa. HI’s strategy in Somaliland is to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and to engage development actors to promote inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable people at local and national level. 

 

Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is currently planning to implement 22 months humanitarian aid project in Somaliland for IDPs in Togdheer; “Rehabilitation, Inclusive Humanitarian Action (IHA), MHPSS & Stimulation Therapy in Crisis-Affected Sub-Saharan Africa (RIMSCASSA) for vulnerable groups, Phase 2.

 

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POSITION

 

Responsibility 1: Conduct the initial assessment of the beneficiary, and respond to the identified needs, by referring appropriately respecting confidentiality and the right of the beneficiary

Aim: Ensure  the benefiaciaries receive the  receive relevant services based on identified needs 

Activities:

  • Work clsoely with the community mobiliser
  • Assess and analyse beneficiaries’ needs (including vulnerabilities) in collaboration with the team
  • Assessing all protection issues at individuals and family level in order to be able to refer appropriately
  • Make referral to the appropriate services inclduing to for physical rehabilottaion Primary health care and  any other available servcies.
  • Refering beneficiaries to an external partner and monitoring these referrals eg for shelter, livelhood etc.
  • Conduct community sensitization and awareness raising events.
  • Follow-up to ensure that the beneficiary has received the servcie.

 

Responsibility 2: Reporting data on beneficiaries’ follow-up and on case management activities

Aim: Ensure up to date information on status of service delivery according to cases and clear planning of work.

Activities:

  • Contribute to a qualitative follow up of the beneficiaries and filling in the follow up according to the monitoring plan
  • Contribute to daily quantitative and qualitative reporting through tools and system in place
  • Reporting on other issues as requested by the line manager, providing details and actionable information for improved services 

 

Responsibility 3: Networking Representation

  • Keep informed about other actors working in the IDP camps and their assistance
  • Attend relevant meetings as assigned and provide feedback to the line manager

 

Experiences and Qualifications

 Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or degree in development studies.

  • Experience working with an INGO/NGO, at community level
  • At least 3 years’ experience in managing and implementing projects, preferably in emergency or in protracted crisis.
  • Some experience in representation in field of expertise e.g. in the working groups or sub clusters.
  • Excellent in spoken and written English,
  • Proficient in using computer programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
