The position is under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Somalia, the direct supervision of the Head of Strategy and Resource Mobilization and in close collaboration with FAO Reporting and Outreach Team in HQ.
Technical Focus
The incumbent will prepare briefing notes as well as concept notes plus project documents and s/he will proactively formulate donor briefing materials and content ahead of meetings and missions.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Draft concept notes and project documents in collaboration with technical teams and other relevant units.
• Ensure proper archiving and dissemination of all relevant project and reference documents.
• Prepare briefing notes and talking points on various topics for senior management as needed.
• Maintain and update the unit databases, planning matrices and mailing lists and manage the FAO-SO email address on behalf of the unit, including the timely and accurate dissemination of documents and relevant updates as needed.
• Proactive formulation of donor briefing materials and content ahead of meetings and missions.
• Prepare donor presentations coordinating content with communications and other teams.
• Support the development of country strategy and appeal documents in close cooperation with relevant personnel.
• Map resource partner strategies and related opportunities against FAO Somalia and country priorities and needs.
• Prepare briefing materials to showcase programme results, in close collaboration with FAO Somalia teams.
• Contribute to strategic information products, including Situation Reports.
• Initiate and facilitate the drafting of project/programme reports using the appropriate donor-specified or corporate templates.
• Liaise with RM, Reporting, M&E teams, and sectors to document learning and make recommendations as to its application to programming.
• Conduct quality review, troubleshooting and editing of relevant project reports and related materials prior to submission, ensuring reports are clear, concise and in-line with corporate standards, including FAO House Style.
• Ensure all reports and project documents have the necessary clearances and revisions prior to submission (internal and technical), in accordance with FAO project cycle management guidelines.
• Perform other related duties and travel, as required.

• Working knowledge (level C) of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge (level B) of one of the other two or Arabic, Chinese, Russian for COF.REG. Working knowledge of English (level C) for PSA.SBS.
